Tobago is located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately 11 km off the coast of Venezuela. It is the sister island to Trinidad. The country’s name is The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago or Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad is one of the most prosperous islands in the Caribbean largely due to petroleum and natural gas production. Tourism is mostly targeted in Tobago.
Tobago is elongated in shape and contains green mountainous hills that run the length of the island. These hills are referred to as the Main Ridge Forest reserve and are the oldest Tropical Rain Forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere. It was also declared a protected area back in 1776 and continues to be popular with nature lovers.
Tobago is best known for it’s glorious beaches and stunning coral reefs, providing for excellent scuba diving and snorkelling. Along the Caribbean Sea coastline of Tobago, there are several small secluded white sandy beaches and towards the eastern Atlantic Ocean coastline, you will find darker sandy beaches. Some of the more popular beaches are: Store Bay, Pigeon Point, Castara Bay and Englishman’s Bay.
