Credit Cards:
All major international credit cards are widely accepted at most hotels, restaurants, shops and for tourism related services. It is also very easy to pin cash from ATM'S located in the city, tourist centres and more recently in the village of Charlotteville which is at the very end of the northern part of the island.Foreign exchange can be obtained at banks in Scarborough, Crown Point and at the Airport.

Car Rentals:
Driving in Tobago is on the left and a valid international permit or vailid permit issused in all Caricom countries, UK, US, Canada and European Union is required for cars and motorcylcles. It should be noted that the age requirement to obtain a rental car is twenty-five years(25yrs)and over. Caribbean Holidays will take care of the rest. For visitors with small infants most car rental operators will have special car seats provided at no additional cost.

Getting married:
Couples need to be on the island at least three days before applying for a license to marry and must have valid passports no less than six months before expiry date. Birth certificates and if there has been a name change, proof is necessary. If divorced, a notarized copy in English of the divorce certificate is also required. Caribbean Holidays will guide and advise couples through this simple process.

Flights to other islands:

There are about 8-12 return flights daily to Trinidad from Tobago with Caribbean Airline starting at 6:40am to 9:15pm. www.tobagoexpress.com .

Liat offers a direct flight daily to Barbados with connections to several other Caribbean islands. Our reservation service can assist you with all flight arrangements.

Crime:
As everywhere else crime exists, fortunately for Tobago violence is not a big problem, offences are petty theft and the occasional hold up. Tourism is on the increase on the island and most incidents can be avoided by simple precautions. It is a good idea to visit the rainforest and other lonely trails in groups or with a reputable guide. Caribbean Holidays will assist you in this process. Leave all valuables in your hotel or guest house safe. Dont take walks on dark streets and beaches late at nights unless with large groups. It is not neccessary to carry around large amounts of cash or passports and airline tickets. Single women should be a little careful of the young men who may approach them, in particular at the beaches and elsewhere. In short use the same precautions as you would back home.

The Tourism Authority on the island along with the hotels, tour operators and the police now have in place a number of  programmes aimed at ensuring visitor safety and a new team of officers on motorbike/bicycle patrols all around the island.

Things to do on a rainy day

In the Caribbean it hardly ever rains all day.....but we do as we say locally get "shower's of blessings" from time to time

Here are few things you can do to enjoy those rainy days:

- grab a taxi and head out to visit the recently built indoor Lowlands Shopping Mall,a first of its kind on the island. Its wide array of shops along with a mix of local and fast food outlets would definitely ensure you dont leave empty handed.

-Let Caribbean Holidays arrange a private spa or beauty treatment at one of our deluxe spas here on the island or better yet in the comfort of your hotel room or villa

-Head out to Black Rock to the new Signature Lounge Sports Bar & Grill and view international sporting events on widescreen televisions as well read international newspapers over fine local cuisine. This sports bar is known for its relaxed atmosphere, innovative cocktails and fresh juices.

-ok last but not least,as the saying goes if you cant beat them join them............why not go take a swim!!even though it may be raining our warm beaches never fall below 27 degrees celcius and swimming in the rain can be great fun!!
